The awarding bodies will release the grade boundaries for the 2018 GCSEs to schools and colleges on Wednesday 22nd August.

The grade boundaries are released so that appropriate centre staff have time to prepare for the results and provide informed advice to their students. Grade boundaries are then published on the awarding bodies’ websites on Thursday 23rd August. This enables candidates, if they so wish, to check their grade in more detail. Grade boundaries are not issued publically before the GCSE results as candidates make assumptions and erroneously predict their final grade. These predictions are commonly shared on social media leading to unnecessary stress and worry for candidates. Over 4,000 centres receive the grade boundaries and we request, in the best interest of their students, that they keep these secure and confidential until the results have been issued.
