JCQ Bulletin We hope this month's e-newsletter find you safe and well.
JCQ and the exam boards continue to recognise the considerable efforts of teachers, exams officers and students throughout what has once more been a difficult academic year. We’re committed to supporting everyone as much as possible throughout the process of awarding grades to students this summer.
May's e-newsletter contains information and updates to help support you with summer 2021 assessments.
Quality Assurance Addendum: Ofqual and DfE have asked exam boards to collect some samples of evidence from every exam centre in England.
Consistent with this requirement, exam boards will be asking each centre to provide evidence samples from one A Level and two GCSE subjects, one of which is likely to be English Language or Maths. For each subject, you will need to provide evidence from five students, along with any supporting documentation. Centres offering only A Levels or only GCSEs will only be asked to submit samples from those qualifications.
Exam boards will contact you with the subjects and students whose samples will need to be submitted during the week beginning 21st June. It’s important you keep evidence and records easily to hand, as you will need to submit materials within 48 hours of the request being made.
JCQ has published a Stage 3 Quality Assurance Addendum to help explain this requirement in detail, and to comply with Ofqual's head of centre guidance.
Quality Assurance: JCQ and the exam boards are now carrying out a review of all Centre Policy Summary Forms submitted. This is to ensure the arrangements each centre has in place are appropriate.
Exam boards may contact you where they have questions or concerns regarding your centre policy. At this point, centres will only be contacted by one awarding organisation. You will receive an email confirming that your policy has been ’Accepted‘ or that there is a need for follow-up contact.
Frequently Asked Questions: To provide some extra summer 2021 assessment support, JCQ has developed a series of frequently asked questions along with accompanying answers.
These will continue to be developed throughout the process to best reflect the questions you require answers to.
