JCQ Bulletin We hope this bulletin finds you safe and well.
JCQ and the Exam Boards continue to recognise the considerable efforts of teachers, exams officers and students throughout what has once more been a difficult academic year. We’re committed to supporting everyone as much as possible throughout the process of awarding grades to students this summer.
Please continue to refer to JCQ's FAQ page for support on Summer 2021 awarding arrangements.
Guidance for the Submission of Sample Material for Stage 3 of the Quality Assurance Process: After the window for Teacher Assessed Grades (TAGs) closes on 18th June, you will be required to provide a sample of the material you have used to determine those grades as part of Stage 3 of the quality assurance process.
To help you with the process, we have produced guidance for the uploading of sample material.
As you will only be told the name of the Exam Board to which you will be required to send this material when the window for submission opens, we have gathered the guidance for all boards into this single document so it is available centrally in advance.
Details of the number of subjects and candidates for each subject required, along with more information on timelines for submission of sample material can be found in the JCQ QA Addendum.
Cyber security (DfE) The Department for Education has been asking centres to review National Cyber Security Centre advice following increasing number of cyber-attacks involving ransomware infections. The NCSC information supports centres in cyber security preparedness and mitigation work.
Ransomware attacks continue and the Department is reminding centres to review the NCSC advice and to take precautions. This includes ensuring that you have backups in place for your key services and data, including data for this year’s Teacher Assessed Grades.
For ease of reference, the Department has highlighted key links relating to the NCSC cyber security guidance below: 1. More ransomware attacks on UK education - NCSC.GOV.UK 2. Ransomware advice and guidance for your IT teams to implement 3. Offline backups in an online world 5. Practical resources to help improve your cyber security 6.
